In order to promote the implementation of gender equality education in schools, the Gender Responsive School-Based Program (GRSBP) of National Tainan University cooperated with 14 special education schools to implement a three-year Gender Responsive School-Based Program (GRSBP) in four major areas: administrative leadership, curriculum teaching and internship, student affairs and counseling, and space resources. The center held a results observation meeting on January 12 and 13, inviting the Ministry of Education’s National Education Bureau and special education school teachers to share and exchange information, hoping to integrate gender equality education into school-based curriculum, teaching and school policies to create a friendly campus environment for special education students.

Peng Fuyuan, director of the Ministry of Education’s National Education Bureau, said that the Ministry of Education’s National Education Bureau and the NTU Gender Empowerment and Sexual Incident Prevention and Control Research Center have organized a team of advisory committee members based on the needs of each school to revise the GRSBP checklist on a rolling basis, continuously develop a school-based response plan for gender equality, and develop a curriculum manual that integrates gender equality education into life management and social skills. They also assist in reviewing local government gender equality teaching materials and organize training courses to achieve gender equality empowerment in special education schools, with a view to deepening and cultivating a gender-inclusive teaching environment.

In this results observation meeting, three principals including Ke Jianxing, principal of Yilante School, Wu Xinghong, principal of Hemei Experimental School, and Xu Hongxian, principal of Pingtung Special Education School, were invited to share the present and future tense of the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) in special education schools. It is expected that each special education teacher will first increase his or her own abilities and then teach them to the students. They will also effectively cooperate with technological aids to make the school's knowledge universal and practical, so that children can learn the ability to carry it with them. In addition, through the plan, we promote the establishment of a gender-neutral community for real-time communication and information exchange to achieve the goal of "love without hindrance", and arrange social workers and psychologists to effectively protect the rights of students. The school has also built a VR reality map of campus hazards, built resource-friendly toilets, improved the gender equality zone website, and further assisted graduating students to transfer to service-level knowledge skills, hoping to make the learning and career paths of special education students go better and further.
